- Can you please describe your day in Malta visiting the hotels in Valletta and St Julian’s?
“On Tuesday our private bus picked us up at the Local Council in Birkirkara and then we went to Valletta which took us about 20 Minutes. After we arrived at the Phoenicia (a 5-Star Luxury Hotel) an employee showed us the hotel. He showed us the Breakfast and Lunchroom, the Ballroom, the Lounge and we also saw the Garden and Pool. The tour took us about 1h 30min and at around 4pm the bus picked us up to bring us to the Local Council again.
On Thursday our private bus picked us up again at the Local Council to visit another 5 Star Hotel in St Julian’s, taking us about 25 minutes trip to arrive. When we arrived at the InterContinental (5-Star Luxury Hotel) the Hotel Director showed us the building. We saw a lot for examples the Breakfast room, Restaurant, Lounge, the Room for big Meetings, Indoor and Outdoor Pool, Spa. After, we went with the elevator upstairs to see the suites. A normal suite which looked very nice and quite luxury. Then we saw the pool and Skybar which is just for the guest who books the suites. Then the hotel director showed us the most expensive suite they have, it was the Presidential Suite for 5.000 euro each night. At around 4.30pm we waited for the bus that was 1h late.”
- Did you enjoy these visits and what were the most interesting aspects of this activity for your Erasmus Plus Programme?
“It was very nice to see the hotels and also to see how much difference there is between the two hotels. I enjoyed the InterContinental Hotel more than the Phoenicia Hotel, because it was more modern and gave us more opportunity to see more of the hotel.”
- Please briefly describe your impressions with regards to the Phoenicia Hotel.
“From outside the Hotel looks very nice, I really liked the Garden and the Pool. The Garden was very big and it had a lot of different trees and plants. The pool was also really nice because you could see the whole city, when you’re in the pool. The Lounge was very big, the Breakfast and Lunchroom where also pretty nice. But I would like to have seen more rooms or Suites. The tour was also a little bit slow and we didn’t see a lot of the hotel.”
- Please briefly describe your impressions with regards to the InterContinental Hotel.
“I really liked the hotel, because it was really modern and it has good forniture. The Lounge was very big and they also had different clocks with times of different countries. The Restaurant was very modern and it looked very good they also had separate rooms to eat. The Breakfast room was very very big, they had a buffet. The normal suite was big and had really good foniture, I really liked it. But the Presidental Suite was even bigger and just so luxurious but also expensive. Both outdoor pools were also really nice. I really enjoyed this visit.”
- Would you recommend to your friend and relative to stay at one of the hotels visited and if yes why?
“I would recommend the InterContinental Hotel, because I didn’t see anything negative on that hotel. The hotel is in the downtown of St Julian, which is very good. The rooms and the Hotel in general are very nice. I think it would be very nice to stay in that Hotel for a holiday.”
- Do you have any suggestion for the hotel’s management with regards to their services or possible improvements if applicable?
To the Phoenicia Hotel I suggest to implement maybe with a gym, an indoor pool or Spa.
