Interview to Lorena W.
Can you please describe your day in Malta visiting the hotels in Valletta and St Julian’s?
On Tuesday we visited first The Phoenicia Hotel. After working half day at the Local Council we were picked up by a bus and driven to Valletta in front of the hotel. In the entrance hall we were received by a man. He told us about the history of the hotel. Afterwards, we were shown the lunch and the ball rooms. It was very impressive. It rained that day, but the visit to the garden was very impressive. Afterwards, he gave us information, such as the price of one room per night, the amount of rooms and their view, and information about the new spa area, which is currently under construction. On Thursday we visited the second hotel, Intercontinental in St. Julians. As in our first hotel visit, we were driven in the afternoon by a bus to the hotel where we were greeted friendly by a man. As we passed through the several dining rooms, he explained the normal course of a stay in your hotel. We were also shown the areas where there are pools, as well as some suites. We were told a lot of nice and interesting information. At both hotels our guides were ending at about four o’clock and we were picked up by our bus and driven back.
Did you enjoy these visits and what were the most interesting aspects of this activity for your Erasmus+ Program?
Yes, I liked both hotels very much. I’m rarely in hotels, so I was very impressed by everything. It was very exciting to see a five star hotel from the inside and to get information about it. At the Hotel Phoenicia I was especially impressed by the entrance hall. […] the hotel Intercontinental was in my opinion beautiful. The whole design in the inside and construction of the hotel is very nice. Impressive was the view, which we could enjoy from the roof of the hotel. I did not think that they would show us one of the most expensive suites.
Overall I was very impressed by both hotels, the Intercontinental convinced me even more.
Please briefly describe your impressions with regards to the Phoenicia Hotel.
I think it’s very nice that the hotel has the same look as its surroundings and was not entirely modern. In my opinion, the faiences were very nice.
Please briefly describe your impressions with regards to the InterContinental Hotel.
I did not notice any bad things about the hotel except the price. I think it’s great. The view of the sea and a part of Malta is beautiful.
Would you recommend to your friend and relatives to stay at one of the hotels visited and if yes why?
If I must recommend a hotel I would definitely recommend the Intercontinental. In my opinion, the price is ok for the service and the facilities of the hotel. I liked it very much. It would only be too expensive.
Do you have any suggestion for the hotels’ management with regards to their services or possible improvements if applicable?
Actually, I have no suggestions for improvement. Maybe both hotels can make their prices cheaper even though they are very luxury hotels.
