  • Can you describe your day in Malta visiting the hotels in Valletta and St. Julian’s?

On Tuesday we were picked up by the bus at the Birkirkara Local Council which brought us to the Hotel Phoenicia in Valletta. We had a guided tour to visit the Hotel. We stared at the lounge, afterwards he showed us the dining room and the ball room. He also showed us the garden with the swimming pool and the bar. The location of the Hotel is centered in Valletta next to the Triton Fountain. On Thursday we also entered the bus at the Local Council which brought us to the InterContinental Hotel in St. Julians. It is an impressive modern hotel near the beach. The director of the hotel led us through the lobby and showed us the dining room and the restaurant which is open for non-visitors of the hotel as well. He also brought us to the enormous conference room were Angela Merkel or Chanel already had meetings. Afterwards we visited the wellness area which also has a little pool. Then we used the elevator to get up to the 15th floor were we entered one of the suits. We visited the Skybeach were everyone of us was fascinated about the pool. We also had a great view over St. Julians. The director divided us into two groups in which we could visit one of the breathtaking president suits. It was really impressive and if I had the money I would definitely spend a night in a room like this. The director said goodbye and our day was over already. Afterwards we waited for the bus and got back to the Birkirkara Local Council.

  • Did you enjoy these visits and what were the most interesting aspects of this activity for your Erasmus Plus Programme?

Yes, I really enjoyed these visits and now I absolutely want to sleep in one of these rooms. The InterContinental is amazing but I can’t understand how someone is able to spend so much money for a night in a hotel. I am not going to work in the tourism direction but it was interesting anyway.

  • Please briefly describe your impressions with regards to the Phoenicia Hotel.

When we arrived at the Phoenicia Hotel I was a little disappointed because I imagined a modern big hotel. I’m not a big fan of old and nostalgic walls, […] The staff was really friendly and helpful, just like our guide. The garden we went trough was colorful and bright, then we got to the pool which was amazing. We had a really nice view and it harmonized with the impressive pool.

  • Please briefly describe your impressions with regards to the InterContinental Hotel.

As we walked into the InterContinental I was amazed because from the outside it doesn’t look as big as from the inside. It is really modern and the color tones look amazing. There was a enormous conference room which was breathtaking. Our guide said that even Angela Merkel was here. They had a big diner room and also a restaurant which can be used from non-visitors of the hotel as well. It was great and I could imagine sleeping in one of the cheaper rooms.

  • Would you recommend to your friend and relatives to stay at one of the hotels visited and if yes why?

Yes definitely the InterContinental because of the sky pool. Even the staff was really nice.

  • Do you have any suggestion for the hotels’ management with regards to their services or possible improvements if applicable.

The Phoenicia Hotel has a great location so I would probably just improve the facilities.
