The history of Mdina, the Old Capital City of Malta

Mdina was the former capital in Malta. Mdina is also called “the city of silence”. If you want to vacation in Malta, you should definitely go to Mdina. In Mdina live only 400 inhabitants. There is no car traffic in Mdina. When you are in Mdina you feel like in the Middle Ages. Mdina takes its name from the Arabs. The name means “walled city”. She received the honorary title “Cita Notabile”. This name was given to them because they won the fight against the Turks.

Highlights of the city buildings: discovering the beauties of Mdina

A special sight is the main gate. This gate is and looks very nice decorated. Even at night, you can visit the gate, which looks even better. You can also visit the castle gate and the moat, because they are still in very good condition. From the highest point of Mdina you can see almost the entire northern part of Malta. Mdina is also worth a visit as it features important scenes shot by Game of Thrones.
